American Teacher

My first impression in the movie American Teacher had me amazed. The nice things some teachers do for us students.
It made me think about how much they actually do care, our fellow students should be so proud of our students and the things they do for us.
The biggest frustration the teachers had with the teaching was they had to pay a lot of things out of pocket so, they had no money.
I could probably list a few teaching conditions that could improve without an increase in money..

  • Make students buy their own school supplies.
  • Fundraisers are good help.
  • Make school spirit shirts.
  • Eat more healthy

If I could change education, I would...

If I could change education, i would buy apple lab tops for each student. The students would be more interested and engaged into their studies.
I'd make apps on the lab tops and at the beginning of the week put a lesson plan on it and make it due by the end of the week.
This would make it much easier for the students, so they could have all week to finish their assignments and email the assignments to their teacher.
This would also help out the economy by saving trees.

Why Do Students Procrastinate?

In the article Overcoming Procrastination the students procrastinate because maybe some students have a hard time concentrating, daydreaming, getting frustrated by lack of understanding.

I know this student at my site school and this young lady is not exactly with the class, she's a little bit behind and she gets distracted easily.

To solve the problem i sat her at a different table distant from the other students and i work with her and show her different ways she could understand more and doesn't get as frustrated.

My first week at  Holiday Heights
Mrs. Sherry Hay is my mentor teacher.   I will be teaching Mrs. Hay's Kindergarten class and I'll be helping kids write, sound out words using sound spelling (which is not standard spelling), giving instructions for the daily assignment, and walking the kids to P.E. The first day was awesome I was a little nervous, but after I introduced myself and got to know the kids I started to feel  more comfortable and more involved in all the activities. I think this year will be fun, I can't wait for my lesson plan to teach to the kids I think it's going to be exciting.
An email from Mrs. Hay to my Education and Training teacher Mrs. Stevens:
I was really surprised when my teacher showed me this email, it made my day knowing I'm doing a good job.

Ms. Stevens:

I am writing for 2 reasons…

1 – Tara Williamson was in my room yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 19 with all expected requirements.  I didn’t have a chance to sign her form as I will explain in number 2…

2 – I want to compliment Tara on the way she jumped in to help handle my class during an episode yesterday.  Near the end of her time we were headed to PE but one of my little boys had a meltdown because he was mad at another boy.  He was being loud, yelling and crying.  While I was trying to get him to stop yelling, Tara immediately suggested “Mrs. Hay, would you like me to get the rest of the class lined up, calling rows?”  I was impressed that, only on the 2nd day in my classroom, she felt confident enough to go ahead and help with the other children.  She did a great job and I am excited to have her in my classroom this year!

Social Smarts

After reading Social Smarts its makes me think i should watch what i put on my emails because it's now in the internet and everybody can see it. I'm very cautious now and i tell my friends about it, it's always good to tell everyone what they are doing on the internet.
The teachers tools they used seem like they’re from long ago but, it’s our younger generation is more likely to work with the technology  and know more about it. Teachers are using more technology now a days and learning new ways of teaching i think it's awesome how everybody gets involved.

Tara's Blog

I just read Joey Sargent's article and she is right, you do need to be careful on what you do on the internet.n I like this blog a lot, it has good information that is going to help me be more careful on what I put on my emails and Facebook messages in the future. More people should read this article before making inappropriate comments to others to let them know what could happen.
